Herbs or shrublets. Leaves alternate, pinnate or imparipinnate. Leaflets small; stipules attached at the base or peltate, appendiculate below the point of attachment; stipels absent. Inflorescences racemose, sometimes paniculate, axillary or terminal with few to many flowers. Calyx campanulate with 5 subequal lobes or bilabiate. Petals yellowish, sometimes with red or purplish lines. Stamens 10, monadelphous or diadelphous. Pods loment, compressed, straight or slightly curved, divided into articles. Seed 1 per article.
